A care home in Caversham

The comfort of home, with care that never sleeps

Oakfield House is a 34-bed home for residential, dementia and respite care — small enough that everyone knows your name, and settled enough that it feels like yours from the first week.

How we can help

Three kinds of care, one familiar place

Residential care

Comfortable, long-term care with round-the-clock support — and as much independence as each resident wants to keep.

Dementia care

A calm, familiar environment with a specialist team, designed around each person's routines, history and family.

Respite stays

Short stays from one week — for recovery after hospital, or to give a family carer a proper break.

Inspected and open about it

Rated Good by the Care Quality Commission

We publish our inspection results in full because choosing care should never mean taking someone’s word for it. Read the report, then come and see the home for yourself.

Honest answers

The questions every family asks

Fees, visiting, what happens when needs change — the things that matter are answered plainly here, not saved for a sales call.

What does care at Oakfield House cost?

Fees start from £1,350 per week for residential care, depending on the level of support needed. That figure includes everything day to day — meals, activities, laundry — with no surprise extras. We publish our fees because families deserve to plan with real numbers.

When can we visit?

Whenever suits you — there are no set visiting hours. Grandchildren, dogs and birthday cakes are all welcome. We just ask you avoid mealtimes for a resident's first fortnight while they settle.

Can couples stay together?

Yes. We have two companion rooms, and where needs differ we build a care plan around each person while keeping them together.
