For families

Choosing care is hard. The facts shouldn't be.

Everything a family needs to decide — how moving in works, what it costs, and the questions everyone asks — answered plainly on one page.

How it works

From first call to feeling at home

  1. 1. Call or enquire

Talk to our manager about what you need — honestly, including whether Oakfield is the right fit at all.

  2. 2. Visit the home

Come for a look around and stay for lunch. Bring the person who may live here — their impression matters most.

  3. 3. Assessment

We visit you (at home or in hospital) to understand care needs, routines and preferences before anything is agreed.

  4. 4. Moving in

A settled, unhurried move — the room ready, favourite things in place, and family welcome from day one.

Questions families ask

Asked and answered, honestly

What does care at Oakfield House cost?

Fees start from £1,350 per week for residential care, depending on the level of support needed. That figure includes everything day to day — meals, activities, laundry — with no surprise extras. We publish our fees because families deserve to plan with real numbers.

When can we visit?

Whenever suits you — there are no set visiting hours. Grandchildren, dogs and birthday cakes are all welcome. We just ask you avoid mealtimes for a resident's first fortnight while they settle.

Can couples stay together?

Yes. We have two companion rooms, and where needs differ we build a care plan around each person while keeping them together.

What happens if care needs change?

Care plans are reviewed monthly, and with families straight away when something changes. Because we provide residential, dementia and respite care under one roof, most changes don't mean moving home.

Paying for care

Clear fees, published like they should be

Residential care at Oakfield starts from £1,350 per week, dementia care from £1,495, and respite stays from £1,400. One weekly fee covers everything day to day — care, meals, laundry, activities and trips. The only extras are personal ones, like hairdressing and chiropody, always agreed in advance.

If care may be funded by the local authority or NHS, we will help you understand the process before any decision is made.
