Regulation, in plain English
Trust & regulation
Who checks up on us, what protects you, and how to verify any of our clinicians yourself.
Verify any clinician yourself
You can check any HCPC-registered physiotherapist, including our team, on the HCPC register at hcpc-uk.org — search by name or registration number.
Open the HCPC register ↗Physiotherapist is a protected title
By law, only people registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) can call themselves a physiotherapist. Every clinician at Forbury Physiotherapy is HCPC-registered — you can check any of our team on the HCPC register at hcpc-uk.org.
We're regulated by the HCPC, not the CQC
Physiotherapy clinics like ours are regulated by the HCPC, which registers and holds individual clinicians to account — not the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which inspects settings such as hospitals and care homes. There's no CQC rating to show you, because a private physiotherapy clinic isn't the kind of service the CQC inspects.
What Chartered membership means
The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) is the professional body for physiotherapists. Some of our clinicians are Chartered members — you'll see it noted next to their name on our Team page. It's a mark of professional membership held by the individual, not something a clinic can claim on its own behalf.
Professional indemnity insurance
Every clinician here holds professional indemnity insurance, covering you in the unlikely event that something goes wrong with your treatment.
DBS checks
All clinical staff hold an up-to-date Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, renewed regularly as part of our safeguarding practice.
Data protection
We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO reference ZA000000 — sample number for demonstration) and handle your health records in line with UK GDPR.
